About Rex
Rex was our 2nd doggy but left much memories then the 1st one which we had when we were really small kids. He was a german spitz by breed, who formed a part of our family. He felt secure in dad's zone when we used to chase or tease or play with him. Dad also used to lovingly call him "iglee-piglee-reku-pecu", and he understood that he is being addressed and called. Infact Rahul and i, always lovingly used to call him anything which started from 'igelee-piglee' to 'bulu-bulu' to 'puchu-puchu' and what not and Rex always knew he is being called by wagging his tail and coming over to lick our ears and nose.
In the mornings when we were in chandigarh, he was the first to wake up and then run from under the bed to the dining table t the balcony to the reading table and round and round over, then after teo or three rounds of his race he used to jump into our bed bark on us, and we covered our ears with pillows but he used to push his mouth under the pillows to lick our mouth and ears and make sounds of all kinds. then he used to go for morning walk with dad and would piss at every single pole or bush or pilar along the roadside. he was quite different from other dogs I have seen. he never ran for food or ran to bark at people. he used to present himself with grace. Sometimes dad said, "probably he was a gentleman in his previous life!" humourisly.
Oh - I forgot to tell about his workshop. Rex had a workshop - under dad's bed, right beneth his pillow. He used to collect Slippers, Shoes, Pens, pencils, books or any thing which his moth felt appropriate to be bitten and then scatterd all over the floor. When he was a puppy he used that place to hide from taken away to get bathed or to get injected. During his puppy days Rex looked like a small teddy bear- with lots of white hair and three dots - 2 for eyes and one for nose. He was cheeful from the early days.
Rahul and I used to give him whatever we ate. Dad also used to do the same. Rex travelled with Dad to many places and many kilometers which no dog I knew would have travelled except him. This was because whenever dad went out of station he would not eat anything till night and at night would just have milk. When Dad got posting in Assam, Rex also accompanied him. Eventually he met a female-dog 'allie'. She was quite energetic and sharp as compared to Gentleman Rex. Eventually Rex became father of seven puppies. Dad was quite happy to tell us that. All the seven of those puppies got distributed among allies' owner's relatives, except for two out of which we had one. The pup was a female one. We named her 'allie' to remember Rex's wife! Allie thus was a combination of rex and allie, she had some qualities of her mother, for example her workshop was not under the bed but upon it. her sleeping point was the sofa and she would eat anything from salad to pulses. She was like her mom in those respects. But she showed grace and good conduct which Rex gifted her.
Rex eventually got sick after dad got transferred to Pinjore. he eventually died, which gave all of us especially dad a big shock, dad wrote an article on him - 'A Relationship called Rex'. Rex left all of us with the wonderful and naughty time we spent in our teenage days and the time dad spent with him, talking to him when dad returned after his office, and all other time when dad wished.
